This initiative aims to position Armenia as a global leader in science, education, and innovation by creating an environment that fosters cutting-edge research and reshapes higher education to be more hands-on and research-driven. Through research excellence, practical application of findings, and fostering innovation, the project seeks to address social, economic, and cultural challenges while driving societal progress.

Goals

Future-Proofing: The Armenia Academic City must align with economic, social, infrastructural, and spatial factors to ensure sustainable growth. Understanding past, present, and future development trajectories is essential for integrating initiatives that support long-term progress.

Stakeholder Alignment: Successful development over the next 10-20 years depends on aligning the city with the interests of key stakeholders—political, public, private, and citizens. Building long-term support and designing the project to adapt to inevitable economic, political, social, and environmental changes is crucial.

Global Alignment: To elevate Armenian academia to global standards, the project must align with international benchmarks set by funding institutions and academic partners. This requires attracting leading international academic players and securing global development funding.

Outcomes

This is Armenia’s investment in its future, positioning knowledge, research and innovation as central drivers of national development. The Academic City establishes the institutional, spatial and economic foundations for a globally competitive higher-education and innovation ecosystem, strengthening talent retention, attracting international partnerships and enabling long-term economic diversification.
